Alpha Cottage Children’s Home
Alpha Cottage was found in 1957 by Mrs. Helen McGhie in 1964. Located 2 km from Masvingo City Centre, along Mutare Road (opposite Helen McGhie Primary School). It provides shelter, food, medical care, education, counselling, and psycho-social support to orphans and vulnerable children (abandoned, abused, neglected, orphaned, and those with imprisoned parents). Beyond care and protection, children must gain practical life skills for independent living.
Apha Cottages seeks to raise $10,000 for sustainability projects that include Poultry and Greenhouse project.

Their children’s rescue centre offers orphaned and abused children a nurturing and safe environment creating a healthy space for them to thrive.

EKHAYA KIP KEINO CHILDREN’S HOME
Donate nowEkhaya Kip Keino Children’s Home is a non-profit making organization registered with the Ministry of Public Services, Labour and Social Welfare as a Public Voluntary Organization in terms of relevant legislation. The Home is situated in Makwe, 36 km from Gwanda,Matebeleland South Province and caters for orphans and vulnerable children. Placement of the children at the Home is through the District of Social Services Office Gwanda and the Magistrate Court. Built on a 50-acre land, the home was designed to provide a family type of environment to orphans and vulnerable children. The home has four family units which are thatched huts that resemble a typical Zimbabwean homestead. It caters for 56 children at full capacity but is currently housing 48 children because one of the homesteads was gutted down by fire in August 2023.
This campaign aims to raise $10,000 to fund three key initiatives:
- the renovation and rethatching of the burnt homestead to improve living conditions as the children are currently overcrowded in the remaining 3 homesteads;
- Critical renovations to improve living conditions by replacing broken toilet systems and taps, renovating, tiling and repainting of toilets and bathrooms for both children and staff.
- Installation of solar system for back up during load shedding. The children’s home uses borehole water and needs electricity to pump water to the homesteads hence the need for solar backup.

Since 2001 Chiedza has served more than 100,000 children living in the high-density and peri-urban areas of Harare South and the rural Zvimba district in Zimbabwe. Their services include providing inclusive early childhood education, second chance education for children out of school, vocational training, health and nutrition support, child protection services and facilitating economic strengthening activities for caregivers.
