  Compassion Ministries – Ivordale

  The Compassion Ministries is a non-profit making organization which was started in 1984. It was established as a non-profit and faith-based organization that the church uses to meet the needs of vulnerable children.

  The Compassion Ministries vision is to improve the quality of life of orphans and vulnerable children. It is dedicated to collectively reduce Child suffering, abuse of children the through, education, supportive counseling, advocacy, and other evidence-based interventions taking a holistic approach. Compassion Ministries works to:

  • Provide psychosocial Support to the children. This enables the children coming from abusive backgrounds to feel loved and special, hence reaching their full potential.

  • Improve the lives of the children, by giving them the best education through prioritising education. All children are in school, from pre-school to university level.

  Chambuta Children’s Home

  Chambuta children’s Home is a government founded Home located in Chilonga, Chiredzi North district of Masvingo Province. The Home was a former refugee camp established in 1988 to shelter Mozambican refugees displaced by civil war in that country. When they returned to their country, the Government converted it into a children’s Home. The Home was established as a suitable place to provide shelter to children living and working on the streets of the various towns in the country. As part of imparting skills, the home has a running vocational training scheme which provides skills to children from the Home and from the community. Currently the home is housing 60 children, 40 in Primary and 20 in Secondary School.

  • Providing shelter for children who live and work in the streets.
  • Ensuring that children receive parental care, love, and guidance.
  • Providing necessities such as food and clothes.
  • Grooming children into responsible, independent and life skills-equipped adults.
  • Imparting life skills through the vocational scheme.
  • Facilitating children’s education and ensuring that they remain healthy.

  Child Future Africa (CFA) Children’s Home

  Child Future Africa (CFA) is a private voluntary organization founded in 2002 by George Seremwe. George Seremwe has a passion for community empowerment and development. Its establishment came in a bid to address the challenges faced by children especially orphans in Mashonaland Central. Child Future Africa operates in all the 8 districts of the province. Mashonaland Central lies on the northern part of Zimbabwe and it sits on a total area of 28 347 km2 and has an estimated population of 1 152 520 (Census 2012) representing about 8.5 % of the Zimbabwe’s population. Farming and illegal mining are the major economic activities, exposing children (1-18 years) to early marriages, child Labour, drug abuse, school dropping, sexual and physical abuse, forced marriages and orphans being the most affected as they are exposed to poverty, hunger and poor living standards entrapping them to the above-mentioned social evils. Child Future Africa has come up with several tailor-made interventions which seek to address the mentioned challenges and to empower young people especially orphans and vulnerable children to partake in initiatives that contribute to personal and community development for the betterment of their lives. Child Future Africa operates a orphanage shelter in Mt Darwin which houses 20 orphans from different parts of the province. The orphanage shelter is situated on a 10000 m2 fenced premise. The project runs 2 houses with 2 foster mothers. It is set up in a rural model with the shelter being close to a farm that produces grain for consumption and income generation. A school is situated in the vicinity of the shelter to provide education to the young minds and empowering them academically, for education is the only weapon that can prune them from the bondage of poverty. The main thrust and objective of Child Future Africa is to develop the orphanage home into a self-sustainable project that produces great minds and responsible citizens.
